More About Harbour Island Dining
The main feature of Harbour Island's restaurants is there are plenty to choose from. These eateries offer some of the finest foods and dining experiences in the Bahamas. The wide variety of establishments in such close proximity is virtually unmatched on any other Bahamian “out island.”
Menus range from fine cuisine to local Bahamian fare. Dress codes are usually quite casual with a few instances of “resort casual.” Each restaurant has their own unique presentation of Bahamian atmosphere. Many offer unforgettable views of the island and ocean or bay. Some of the finest and most expensive restaurants can be found at the resorts on Harbour Island.
You can find the location for many of these restaurants on our map of Harbour Island. One of the features of our satellite map of Harbour Island is to view all of the restaurant locations by using “Select a Category” and choosing “Restaurants” from the pull down menu. Spend a few hours touring the island on a rental golf cart and seeing them firsthand. Ask to look at their menus when stopping by. Some post their daily specials on chalk boards at their entrance.
It is highly recommended to call ahead to find out what their serving times are, what days they are open and to make dinner reservations in advance. Making reservations at the finer restaurants before you even get to Harbour Island is a good idea during prime season.
Most restaurants add a 10% VAT tax to your bill with some exceptions where the vendor has revenues less than $100,000 per year making many of the Takeaway Restaurants less expensive. Expect a tip of 15% or more to be added automatically. Everything in the Bahamas is expensive, including water, because it has to be brought in by boat. It pays to ask if you are price conscious.
